Tidak ada laut?

Why & why?

Kata 'tartarus' dan 'hades' kita jumpai dalam naskah2 PB dalam bahasa Yunani, tertelbih dalam naskah Homeric (Iliad and Odyssey.)

The underworld is ruled by Hades. The oldest descriptions of the underworld can be found in Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. The other poets of old epics such as Hesiod describe it similarly. In the Odyssey, the underworld is located beyond the Western horizon. Odyssey melakukan petualangaan kedunia bawah (dunia orang mati) dengan menyeberang Ocean (bdk. Sea) -- Sea/Ocean merupakan pintu gerbang menuju dunia bawah (underwolrd)

Dalam naskah lain saya temukan bahwa Laut juga merupakan bagian dari Underworld (dunia bawah -- dunia orang mati).



Jadi sepertinya Yohanes (penulis kitab Wahyu 'meminjam' istilah atau kisah ini untuk menunjukkan bahwa (dalam wahyu 21:1) -- dalam bumi yang baru nanti tidak akan ada laut/sea/ocean -- alias tidak ada dunia orang mati -- tidak ada alam maut.
