The original twenty two Hebrew letters were pictures of animals, tools or parts of the body. The ancient Hebrew alephbet has very little resemblence to the modern Hebrew alephbet, though the modern did evolve out of the ancient.

The objective of this section is to teach the name and sound of each letter by associating a common English word and sound related to the original Hebrew. This will allow for an easier method of learning the ancient Hebrew Alephbet.

The Goat Hair Tent

The tent was divided into two parts. The main section, behind the tent door, is the men's section. The other section is the womens section, with a wall dividing the two parts. The only person allowed into the womens section, is the father of the tent. Notice the similarity to the Pictographic Hebrew letter "beyt" - . The word "beyt" is not only the name of a letter but is also a common Hebrew word meaning, "home". This letter is a representaion of the floorplan of the tent, the "home" of the nomadic Hebrews.

The t is two crossed sticks meaning a mark or sign. The family mark is the name of the patriarch of the family (such as "the house of Jacob"). The primary function of the tent is to provide a protection and a sleeping area at night. (eng: bed - for sleeping at night in the house; both - the letter beyt is the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet)

(t adalah dua tongkat saling silang sebagai tanda. Nama keluarga menandakan nama leluhur keluarga (seperti 'keluarga Yakub'). Fungsi utama dari kemah ini adalah memberikan perlindungan dan tempat beristirahat)
