Petros : another perspective

[ITB]Mat 16:16 Maka jawab Simon Petrus: "Engkau adalah Mesias, Anak Allah yang hidup!"

[KJV]Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

[NA26]Mat 16:16 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Σίμων Πέτρος εἶπεν, Σὺ εἶ Χριστὸς υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ζῶντος.

Mat 16:16 respondens Simon Petrus dixit tu es Christus Filius Dei vivi

Based on Rev. Dr. Jonathan David seminar on March, 17th-19th 2008

That verse declares Jesus as :

  1. The Christ - Christos - Χριστὸς
  2. The Son - Huios - υἱὸς
  3. The God - Theos - θεοῦ
  4. The Living - Zao [Zontos] - ζῶντος

...ho christos ho huios ton theos ton zontos

'ho' and 'ton' has same lemma as defined in

G3588
ὁ, ἡ, τό
ho hē to
ho, hay, to
The masculine, feminine (second) and neuter (third) forms, in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom): - the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.

...ho christos ho huios ton theos ton zontos

1. ho christos

The masculine Christ

2. ho huios

The masculine Son

3. ton theos

The neuter (no gender) God

4. ton zontos

The neuter (no gender) Living

So Simon declares Jesus as : The Christ, The Son, The God and, The Living

See in Vulgate :

...Christus Filius Dei vivi

  1. Christus (Christ)
  2. Filius (Son)
  3. Dei (God)
  4. vivi (Viva- Living)

Then, where did the word 'of' came from ?

...Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God...

with warm regards
